2 Red Delicious apples
1/2 cup water
Wash, peel, core and dice apples. In a medium saucepan bring water and apples to a boil. Cover and let cook 30 to 35 minutes. remove from heat. Use electric hand blender and purée until smooth. Let cool before serving.
Variation: You can steam apples 7 to 8 minutes until tender and then purée.
For chunkier apple sauce (as your child grows) use food masher.
Once your child has been introduced to apples, spice up your applesauce with a little cinnamon. Toddlers love to experience new flavors, just like mom and dad.
Makes approximately 1 1/2 cups of applesauce.
Keep this at hand as this is great to mix and blend with other purée recipes.
